Title: Forest Sustainable Certification Auditor

Position Overview:
The Forest Sustainable Certification Auditor is responsible for conducting comprehensive assessments and audits of forestry operations to ensure compliance with sustainable forest management practices and certification standards. This role requires a deep understanding of forestry practices, environmental conservation, and sustainable development principles. The Auditor will evaluate and verify compliance with established standards, provide recommendations for improvement, and contribute to maintaining the integrity of forest certification programs.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct on-site audits of forestry operations to assess compliance with sustainable forest management standards and certification requirements.
2. Review and analyze documentation, records, and reports related to forestry practices, including forest management plans, harvesting operations, reforestation activities, and environmental impact assessments.
3. Evaluate the effectiveness of conservation measures, forest inventory techniques, ecosystem protection, and natural resource management.
4. Identify potential risks and non-compliance issues, and recommend corrective actions to ensure adherence to sustainable forestry practices and certification standards.
5. Collaborate with forestry professionals, stakeholders, and certification bodies to facilitate the certification process and address any inquiries or concerns related to sustainable forest management.
6. Prepare detailed audit reports, including findings, observations, and recommendations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with established guidelines and best practices.
7. Monitor and track the implementation of corrective actions recommended during audits, providing guidance and support to forest management entities as needed.
8. Stay updated on industry trends, advancements, and emerging regulations related to sustainable forest management practices and certification standards.
9. Contribute to the continuous improvement of audit methodologies and procedures to enhance the rigor and effectiveness of forest certification assessments.
10. Participate in training programs, workshops, and conferences to enhance professional knowledge and skills related to forestry auditing and sustainable development.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Forestry, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, or a related field.
2. Proven experience in forestry operations, forest management, or related fields, preferably in the context of sustainable forest management.
3. In-depth knowledge of forest certification standards and frameworks, such as Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) or Program for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC).
4. Strong understanding of environmental conservation principles and sustainable development practices.
5. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to assess compliance and identify areas for improvement.
6. Ability to conduct thorough and objective audits, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
7. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to present audit findings, observations, and recommendations clearly and concisely.
8. Proficiency in utilizing relevant software applications and tools for data analysis and reporting.
9. Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with diverse stakeholders, including forestry professionals, certification bodies, and regulatory agencies.
